Day 1

Before we regale you with our thoughts on Hong Kong.... the important stuff first: Tomorrow is "Gotcha Day"! We have a flight from Hong Kong to Nanchang in the Jaingxi province tomorrow at 11am. We get to the hotel around 2:00pm and sometime before 5pm we will get baby Leah! Excitement and anxious all around. Hopefully Alex and Lauren will be able to get good pictures for the blog. Here are a couple of new ones from the orphanage:

OK..... Thoughts on Hong Kong:

- The shear density of population is overwhelming. everywhere you go dozens and dozens of 30,40,50 story apartment buildings, the average Apt. size..... 500 sq ft.

- There is very little "ground" on the ground. Everything is granite, concrete or bricks. We saw one patch of grass all day... about the size of our front lawn.

- Cell phones everywhere and most everyone seems to be very angry talking on them.....

- Dim Sum = gooooooood.

- There is absolutely no sense of personal space or the idea of a queue. Two old ladies almost took me down at the front desk last night.

And I would be remiss not to show you the most important purchase of the day:

Janice felt compelled to purchase this cardboard tube today at Stanley Market, "Just in case we might find a picture we like... to protect it." I wonder who gets to carry that around for the next two weeks ??

We would also like to take this opportunity to give out props to the Jesuit High Girls basketball team who will be playing in the State Championship game Friday night against the infamous Southridge Skyhawks !! Congratulations girls ! Go Crusaders!!
